Job Description and Duties

The incumbent must possess strong organizational and good interpersonal skills.  Must possess a valid California Class C Driver’s License.

HEP Operator Apprentice: Under close supervision of the Chief Hydroelectric Plant (HEP) Operator and the guidance of the Senior HEP Operator and/or HEP Operator, the HEP Operator Apprentice assists and receives training in performing either manual or remote control water and power operating and switching on pumping/generating units in hydroelectric pumping or generating plants and associated facilities.

HEP Operator Apprentice:  Under the provisions of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection Standard CIP-004 as part of the Energy Policy of 2005, this position has authorized cyber access to or unescorted physical access around critical cyber assets and is subject to a satisfactory background check prior to appointment and every seven years thereafter.
